'Cash-less' and 'Credit card-less'
Don't be surprised if you do not need to bring any cash or cards out when you head for the streets. I was just reading through The Straits Times' 'Digital Life section this morning, the first section i would always head for, surprisingly for a girl.HAH.Anyway, i was particularly drawn to this article on tags. The first impression that struck me was blog tagboards? Nope. It wasn't. It was about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tags. These tags are minute in size which can be injected to keep track of things through radio frequency signals. For example, we inject them into our pets like dogs so that when lost, we can effortlessly track them down through the use of such technology.
Subsequently, you would not be surprised if it is implanted on humans to keep track of them? Not exactly. From the article, they are actually replacing cash and credit cards so when you have to pay for something, a reader will scan your arm (where the tag is injected) and tada! You've paid for your goods. Well, a club in Barcelona, Spain has taken the lead to start using it. Singapore too, would be testing this application here.
Perhaps, if this is successful and being carried out, we will not have to even carry anything with us out anymore. Our identification, credit card data would be stuffed into that teeny weeny capsule and put into our body. Actually, the idea of having something injected into my body does not really sound that appealing (if that were to happen). I would not have anymore excuses to buy more bags. =P muahaha.Think of this, we never know if there is going to be any harmful effects right? not just yet. But, I think i would be a safer person on the streets since there's nothing tangible with me to rob.heh.
